News Update

The 60th Anniversary Gathering took place in Alnwick on the 10/1/2007. Unfortunately competition entries were slightly down on last year athough it must be said that the weather may have had its influence on the day; however the standard of competition was again very high.  All Workshops were well attended and the feedback from those who took part has all been positive, everyone seems to have benefited from their particular workshop. What was particularly gratifying was that there were a number of people took the opportunity to try the smallpipes taster session including a young lady from USA.  The evening Concert and dance were well supported and the Concert once again maintained the high standards of the past.  All in all a good day was had by all who attended Alnwick on what was a wet, cold winters  day

News Update (10/9/07)

The judges, who will also run the pre-competition workshops, for this year's Gathering have all now been confirmed as follows:

It is hoped to obtain from the judges a play list for the workshops which, if forthcoming will be published on this site.

There will be for the first time at the Gathering an 'Instrument Taster Workshop'  which is to be run by Richard  Johnstone. This workshop will offer the opportunity to anyone to 'try out' one of our traditional instruments under tuition.  It is hoped that this workshop will also cater for the smallpipe beginner.
