NORTHUMBERLANDNorthumberland is the northernmost county of England and lies on the eastern side of Britain. Apart from the industrialised south-eastern corner of the county, Northumberland is a mainly rural area of rolling hills, valleys and moorland which are unspoilt by industry. |

AlnwickIn the heart of the county is the old market town of Alnwick with its magnificent mediaeval castle. For hundreds of years Alnwick Castle has been the historic home of the Dukes of Northumberland. The present Duke and Duchess of Northumberland, the patrons of Alnwick Pipers' Society, still occupy Alnwick Castle as their family home. |
